How do release the parking brake?

How do release the parking brake?
I'm doing brake work on my son's '07 H3 and I'm having a problem removing the rear rotor because the parking brakes are too snug, I pulled the parking brake release lever but it doesn't seem to release. I noticed this thing has an electronic parking brake sys that's automatically activated, is there a way of releasing it so I can remove the rear rotors? Thanks much for any helpful replies. This is my first time on this forum.

Your parking brake is manual, not electronic. It is "stuck" because of dirt, corrosion and/or rust. Lube its moving parts with a spray lubricant (like CRC power lube... WD-40 is not a lube), NOT THE PADS, and press and release the parking brake pedal to work it free.
The H3 service manuals are free and online, search that out and see if any info in there helps.

I'm sure you have this figured out by now, but . . .
I replaced my rear pads and one side was tough to get the old pads out. I thought it was the E-brake, but
it was a sticking caliper pin. It was rusted tight and hard to remove.
All fixed now.
Good luck with the repair

Thanks Doc, you've been a big help. In addition to lubricating the moving parts, it also seems a lot simpler to loosen the cables adjusting nut (under the driver's door) to release the tension and disconnect the rear cables as well and reattach after the brake work, what's your thoughts on this proceedure?

Can you link or point me in that direction? I've been looking with no luck.
Also if you know, where can I find an illustrated parts manual?
Thanks!!

Nevermind, if I turn off all the ad blockers it goes further.
Wants me to take a survey to get manual
