Default HomeMade CAI

Has anyone out there made their own custom CAI? If so, can you post pictures? I just cant find myself spending up to $300+ for an intake, when overall, they look fairly simple to make (bent pipe, and a nice air filter). If you have a bent pipe, did you use a 45 degree, or a 22 degree? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and/or input!

(btw i have an 06 lux I5)

maybe but you will not get the same quality..... I have tried the "do it yourself intake" on other trucks and yes they can work but again it will not come close in quality to what Doc builds.
For $150 you are getting something that has been proven to work and is still cheaper than almost all other options available. I don't know why you would buy a Hummer and cheap out on parts... but that is just me.

I agree. $150 plus filter is much better than the $300 intake systems i've found so far. thanks for your help and input!

I just ordered the K&N FIPK online for $220 shipped. That intake looks good, but I think Id rather have a plastic intake tube. I would think metal would retain heat more, although Im sure there is very minimal performance difference between the two materials. Ive just always been a fan of K&Ns proven systems and guess since I found this one cheap Id just scoop it up.

If you go the airdoc route, give me a shout, because I have a K&N filter with about 800 miles on it for sale. It's not in the "for sale" section. I'm really lazy.
