race, did you see the winking eye smliey? That means kidding...geezzzzzzzzz

As far as money out of pocket now, filling it in is cheaper but you guys aren't thinking of resale value. For 20 grand more to have the pool built my resale value will increase 50 grand or more because they cannot be put in in this town anymore.

I really do not think it will help the resale now if you add a garage or a finished basement it will but a pool no.

actually it does, we just had the house appraised for my mortgage and I asked the guy. With the pool my house appraised for $475,000 If I were to fill it in he said it would have appraised for around $420-$430,000 depending on what landscaping I got done in it's place. I have a hard cover over the hole that was my pool so he thought there was still a good pool under it

Now that's the Impy I love! You tellim Boss. YOu might be able to movee into a crack house in LA on that appraisal. Let me check with the neighborhood association but I don't think they want you, I seem to be keeping the red neck quota at it's limit.

We do have Montgomery Gentry coming to town in Sept, want tix?

There must be a different mentality in the East..As out here in the Southwest, although the weather is amost 5 months of pool time..A pool hurts the ability to sell per ALL the realitors, not the resale or appraised value, but finding the buyer that want's a damn part year pool..So leave everything were it is and just backfill with dirt and sod..don't remove anything below ground leave all that crap underground..about $5000.00 tops for a few loads of top soil!

I wish it were that easy!! We need a permit to fill it in, inspector has to come out and inspect the site before any work is done, then he will come out to inspect the site once the old pool is removed, also will inspect the dumpster to make sure everyhting has been torn out. Then one final inspection once the pool is backfilled. Local codes and laws are tough here.
