Default Hitch Mount Bike Carriers

Just bought a Thule hitch mount carrier for my mtn. bike and the back door will not open b/c the bottom of the spare tirejust hits the top of the lower upright bar. This is the model that allows the upper part of the rack to fold down, but the remaining "nub" is still too high for the lowest part of the spare.Anyone else have this problem or know of other alternatives that work?

Thanks!

take it to a welder and have him modify it or if you have the equipment do it yourself.

I ran into the same problem so i went with the Thule rack and bike trays on top. I post a pic later.

I subsequently tried Yakima and had the same issue so I ended up with the Thule spare tire contraption. Its not what I wanted but will get the job done. Rack on the top is of course an option, but I don't have side rails yet so it would be hard to reach up there. Please post a pic though. Thanks

Will this help? Just drop the entire system from where it attaches to the hitch.

Damn. Its too late. I have already opened, installed and used the spare tire rack. Figures that someone out there had a solution to this. Thanks though.

Too bad this help didn't come sooner[&o], but at least it may help Hummer owners in future who encounter this problem.
