HELP! Tomtom problems
My sister just bought me a Tomtom for my birthday. I am trying to plan a route to Michigan with the thing and it keeps telling me to go through Canada. I DON'T WANT TO! Neither my father nor I have a passport or an enhanced license. We also have my nephew tagging along.
I have tried to alter the route but I can't seem to do so. The web site is useless to me because all of the help topics are about updating the maps. Sort of like here and the 35" tires questions...
If anybody can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. I am ready to take it back to the store if I can't get it working. Thanks in advance for the help!

all gps unit should come with an up to date road atlas. i use atlas maps for general routing and gps for help in congested areas, ike for me toledo and akron. i use free interstate and some great roads like rt 20. its 2 lane, fast, scenic,AND you find some good small town food!! i use a short piece of the ohio turnpike, tolls doubled in 2 years
my magellan looses the detail i need as i zoom out,,pita
btw,i lways mention, win based gps can be opened up as a neat windows computer with a free program,"miopocket",you can get free

Hey Jesse, try to program Buffalo and Drummond. Then "add" a destination like as Stan suggested a city "enroute" like Toledo or Cleveland and use that as a "way point" or what ever TomTom calls it. This should do the trick!

If I don't like what direction the GPS is telling me to go, I usually just head in the general direction then let the GPS recalculate along the way.
So if you head towards Cleveland ignore the TomTom until you get below Lake Erie and it will automatically stop trying to send you thru Canada and recalculate a new route thru Michigan.

Well it took me long enough to figure out how to set a waypoint but it worked!!! Thank you all for the help and I am a happy driver now. . It only asks for starting point and destination so I was trying to drag the route like you can on mapquest. It just kept pulling up the menu and I was ready to throw it at the wall. But now that I gof it, I think I will hang onto it. Thanks again everyone!
