RE: Help - Problem with 4WD not unlocking
Hi,
I was reading your post. I had the same problem last winter. Frt end would not unlock and was binding. Ended up being a transfercase problem. My truck was out of service for 5 weeks while they tried to get parts. At first the dealer changed the transfercase fluid, then they took it apart and thought they had it back together. Still was binding. Eventually they had to rebuild the entire case. It's been fine ever since.

Hi KTM. Long time no see
Thanks for the info. That's what it is. The front wheels are binding.
IK: Yes, the tire pressures are all the same. I check them every month and equal them out if need be, but usually they don't need any air.
I made it home, but it was agonizing. The wheels were locked up the entire time. I drove slow so I wouldn't cause more damage, but now, my infamous clanking differential is back I knew the torque would break those bushings again.
Anyway, I have 75 miles left til it hits 48k, so I'm still under warranty (thank God). I don't know if my warranty expires after the 48k allowed on my lease, or the standard 50k, but whatever it is, Tuesday morning my friend is taking me to the closest Hummer dealership and they can have it for as long as they need it. In the meantime, I already talked to my attorney friend who has experience with the lemon law, and he's going to see in a worst-case scenario situation if I can still claim that to get a new(er) one.
Impy: So you are saying I can probably get away with leaving all the chrome crap on there? I would at least buy the H3 emblems and stick them back on there. What about the pin-striping? Ya think I should take that off as well?

I would leave whatever I couldn't get off easily.

RE: Help - Problem with 4WD not unlocking
absolutely Mike....they don't care bro...all they do is load it onto a truck and send it to auction....the dealership gets nothing out of it..it's gm's truck after lease end...not the dealership.

I've never had my H3 off road except being a smart *** and
leaving the hiway to drive down in a snow filled ditch to take a short-cut
to my office. I've driven it in 10" of snow and thru 4' drifts
without ever locking it in. I have yet to even spin the tires even
going up snow packed inclines from a complete stop. AWD gets the job done for me.

Something about that loading my H3 up on the back of a truck just made me cringe [&o]I don't know if I can do it.
I'm going to take a trip to HummerMike's dealer next Saturday and talk to one of his sales people there. I might be able to do something. So far though it's not looking too promising because of the finances and all
