Help with poping ,rattle noise behind dash
This just started ,getting poping rattling noise from the dash
Sounds like it's behind the radio.
It's worst when cold but happens when warm also.
With key on but no engine run it won't happen.
With engine running and radio off climate control off .
And in park it happens , I did have the cluster gauges
Changed out last year but it dosent sound like it's coming from there.
Can't pin it down , any help please and thanks . Mike

Update on problem
I removed the cluster and still have the noise, so I pulled the top
Dash pad off, I hate those screws should have used clips the screws
Pulled threw one plastic part and were hard coming out, not a good
Design .but anyway the noise is not coming from the climate control
Eather it sounds like it's coming from the heater box at the top.
Like when the water is getting hot it's making noise. Not sure of the
Problem or fix. I wonder how hard would it be to replace the heat exchange
On an h2.? Any input would be helpfull, thanks Mike .

Still more info
I found some info off another web sight, I guess this is a known problem
With Gm 6.0 engines, the heater core is the highest point in the cooling system
And if air gets in the system it will end up at the heater core causing all kinds of noise . Some say to back flush the core and then refill and purge the air out,
Some just burp the upper radiator hose and they also recommend changing the
Surge tank cap. So I will give it a try. Mike

good job tracking the noise down. These 2's are filled with pops, cracks, creaks, squeals, and any other noise you can think of.
My wife says my 06 sounds like a commercial plane taking off with all the plastic noise when I hit bumps in the road lol. Annoys the **** out of me, I've tried putting felt pads everywhere I can but the noises just keep coming....
