Default Help me with this part name

My wife said that the guys that did the oil change on the H2 opened the hood too quickly and one of the metal cables snapped when it was fully opened. One is still in place but since there is not a whole lot I can do from here where can I buy that cable and what the heck is it called.

i don't know if it has a special name other than hood support cable. they rot easily because of the plastic around them. should be easy enough to get from the parts dept at the dealer.

I think they are held in with a little cotter pin... should be a 5 minute repair but I think shorty is looking it up....

the technical term is "hood support cable", and it is indeed held in with a cotter pin on both ends. as long as the other one is holding the hood up, your wife should be able to replace it easily. the manual also says there's a hood hold open rod, which i've never seen, i've always just let it hang on the cables, but if it's there that will hold the hood while the cable is replaced. one thing i would do if you are in a wet environment is remove the plasitc, rubber shielding around the cable. replace it with some split loom wiring harness so the water can drain and not rot the cable again. good luck.
