have you heard....
That GM has started negociations with DAIMLER to buy the CHRYSLER/JEEP division.....
So maybe in a near future we will see a HUMMER 'Rubicon' and a JEEP 'H4'[:'(][:'(][:'(]
No wonder the GM share is down 2% and the DAIMLER one up 7%!!!!.

RE: have you heard....
lets keep in mind that last month, the rumor was toyota was buying GM. in december the rumor was the nissan was buying GM...
also, GM was near bankruptcy a few months ago...how would they now afford a huge corp?

Well, I agree. But this particular 'back office' rumor is supported by huge stock moves ( hell, can you imagine how much value is 7% of DAIMLER GROUP).
As far the price is concerned, I don't think GM has any problem to buy CHRYSLER/JEEP since they will be funded partially by DAIMLER and for the rest it might be a stock swap deal.

Well, No Patrick DODGE is not included in the discussions at this early stage since DAIMLER is launching the DODGE brand in China (I mean PRC) next year.
and Dennis, you know that out of 10 'brokers' rumors 8 are BS, 2 totally unrealistic and denied but this particular one is both realistic and NOT COMMENTED by the parties, so wait and seeeeee.

interesting point JM.
someone else suggested that they dont want dodge because they already have performance cars, but they want luxury cheaper than the caddy lineup. dodge is known for trucks...gm doesnt need trucks.
