My 2009 H3 lists Tire size as "P265/75R16" with speed rating of "T". I could not find the load Load Range. Where do I find it?

Currently I have BFG Rugged T/A on the vehicle and this year in winter my H3 is not quite driving good in snow. I think I am in need of change of tires. Though I only have 33k miles on H3. Snow and slush forms a coating around the tires and H3 sometimes just glides on the roads. Of course since it is H3 it at least stops when I apply the brakes.

I am not quite sure if I should go with BFGs again. I checked Discount Tires and found these 3 options. Any suggestions? Any other options for me to consider?

1. Michelin LTX M/S 2 (LT265/75R16E1 123R W)
Tire Details - Discount Tire

2. Michelin LTX M/S 2 (P265/75R16 114T ORWL)
Tire Details - Discount Tire

and

3. BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO (LT265/75R16E1 123S W)
Tire Details - Discount Tire

I was not quite sure of BFGs since my current ones are not great but I have seen people using All-Terrain T/A KO and so put that as an option.

Does the speed rating have much effect? I usually do city/highway driving (not much off-road) but live in Chicago area and so definitely want something for snow driving.

Thanks in advance!

cheers

True MAX load range on the P265's is around 2k lbs each, at max air pressure (35psi)..

2-1/2 of those p-metric tires are maxed out, just with the weight of H3

Even if you don't overload it nor drive offroad, why push it to the max?

I highly recommend LT's on the H3!

Those LT's you have listed (123 is the load index number, the higher that number is, the higher the max load lbs), have a max load range around 3k lbs each..
However you can increase the max load on LT's by increasing air pressure, 50psi+, where p-metric tires you should never go over 35psi.

Those LT tires you have listed also show E load range= upto 80psi max air pressure..

As far as speed rating: R is upto 106mph, S is upto 112mph, T upto 118mph

And the BFG's T/A KO are an upgrade to you current tires. The michelins just don't look right on the H3

hummerz, thank you for a great explanation and advice. I agree Michelins will not look good on H3. Do you have any recommendation for tires? Or #3 that I listed (BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO) is a good way to go?

Thank you

I would also suggest the goodyear wrangler authority only available at wal-mart. Load range C and somewhat of an aggressive look, and a little cheaper than the Duratracs

Falken Wildpeak A/T

Go with the 285/75-16 which is what comes with the offroad package.

I have the 305/75 -16 Falkens and they look great on an H3.

Great highway tire and good for the beach running that we do in South Texas. I've had them in snow in Missouri and Colorado and they work fine.

I would recommend.... avoiding rice rubber and foreign rubber always.

Goodyear, Cooper and Mickey Thompson all provide high quality made in the USA, by an American company, tire options.
