Default H3 Radiator prone to proublems

Just a FYI. The radiator on the H3 is prone to to an internal malfunction which can wipe out your transmission. I have been through three radiators now since I purchased my 07 H3 in in 2010. The hard plastic has cracked near the radiator cap on the first one. less then 4 years went by after the dealership put the second radiator in I noted shifting problems. I checked the transmission fluid and it was milky. I took it into a transmission shop. I was informed that there was a internal malfunction in the radiator. the pressure of the coolant system is greater then the pressure in the transmission and coolant was pushed into the transmission. 1400.00 later for a transmission and now a third radiator. I went with an external trans cooler to prevent this from happening again. I recommend you do the same thing, its a lot cheaper then replacing the transmission..

Or, replace the OEM radiator with a quality aftermarket radiator when the first one coughs it. Stay away from cheap Asian replacements.

Doc,
What brand of aftermarket radiator do you recommend? I have a 2008 H3X ALPHA that has 45000 miles and original radiator. I want to keep it as primo as possible. My CE has 31000 on the last AC DELCO with a downstream HAYDEN tranny cooler. The original radiator was worn through because of touching the radiator support at the top. I have trimmed the support to allow ample clearance on both rigs and have replaced the foam seals. In your opinion, should I replace either one of them. The DEXCOOL has been changed several times on both and PURPLE ICE is added yearly to avoid corrosion and enhance cooling. Any advice will be appreciated?
