Hey Dennis,
Not sure of the build date, but I picked it up June or July and it had been sitting for at least a month b4 I took delivery. Probably I got the tail end.
I assume I would check the build date on the door jam? although I think I may have seen it in an invoice or onstar profile or something.
I just hope they used the newer part when replacing and I don't have to go in for it again.
/Mike.
Mike...I'm sure they used new parts. I knew about this defect before I bought my H3 almost a year ago. That was one of the first things that I can remember that GM corrected on the H3.

The dealers at first were not aware of a GM champainge to replace these roof rails and for a while they were replacing the cracked ones with faulty ones as well..then the dealers were held to a moritorium not to replace anymore until after May of 2006..As that is when the new and improved versions came out...

Mine is cracked on driver side also. Passanger side seems to be ok. I noticed this a couple of weeks ago and have been making a list of small items that need attention. My dealer is an hour and a half away.

I just noticed this in mine yesterday. I have the same crack Dennis showed a picture of, and almost a 1/4" gap between the pieces along the roof. Well, it looks like I'll be going BACK to the dealer this Saturday [:@] At least HummerMike works there now but that dealer has great service regardless. It's the only Hummer dealership that will do warranty work on the weekend.

Again, I am SO sick of going to the dealer. It's like every 3 weeks now. DOH! How can roof rails shrink. I mean what the hell kind of plastic did they use anyway where the weather expands and contracts them THAT much. Double DOH! [:@]

Dropped off my H3 friday since I had to jump it twice (before work and after work), while there I talked to the head of the service dept who offered me a loaner for the weekend. This is the 4th time I've been to the dealer since I bought the truck there the end of September. After shooting the crap with the manager for a few he talked to the service consultant who was putting the repair into the computer and noticed the jack was recalled.... I asked why they didn't notice this the other 4 visits or when I bought it, knowing this recall has been out for a while? He simply said I dont know. I told him I was also getting that wind noise (I have roof lights, NOT marker lights). I read the paperwork and it says cause: loose. No road test was done since the mileage on the truck was the exact same as when I dropped it off. I also noticed an annoying tapping/rattling sound coming from the ceiling area of the cab when in motion espcially on a rough or uneven road. (This may have been present before but not noticed as much until driving a loaner that didn't do it). I also noticed that same crack on both sides of the car and the molding covering the pillar was extremely loose at the top and not connected in anyway to the molding on the roof. I am def taking this back next month when I'm due for oil change, and guess I'll loose the truck for a few more days. [:@] UGHHHHHH. I've also had since the day I bought the truck and odd and annoying ticking sound coming from the front of the truck, while in motion and is speed related between 20mph and 50mph, I can hear it over the radio at times and is easy to hear when my foot is off the gas... anyone know what this might be? Everytime I take it in for service I mention it and they say they can't reproduce the sound, I've offered to go on the roadtest and they so far have not done so.

Just noticed that mine's cracked on the driver's side too. It took about10 months to finally happen, looks like the deep freeze did it in.

Mine's cracked, and the build date on my door says 06/06.

Doesn't make any sense...

Not really, you should have had the new ones, maybe they stuck on a few of the old styles by accident or just to clean out their inventory..but as long as the dealer replaces them...I'm sure they will be the new styles now..
