Default H3 Offroad lights question

I'm sure that this has been answered at some point, but both Google and the search engine on this forum are failing me. Can anyone tell me what style/size the replacement bulb is for the OEM Roof top off road lights?

I believe they are H3's (no moniker pun intended), but I am looking for confirmation. I'd also be interested to know if anyone has ever installed an HID kit in them. I know that DDMTuning.com has an H3 kit with slim ballasts.

Thanks in advance,
James

I have them too. They were a H3 option when new. I haven't had to replace a bulb yet so I can't answer your question but you can get another OEM from the dealership if you want to go that way.

well, I don't have a bulb out so it isn't really a needed thing. I'm just looking at upgrading the other lights to HID for Christmas and thought I might do them as well. If I weren't lazy, I'd just undo the thing from the roof and look, but I thought I could find out on here.

According to some other boards (not sure what the policy is about posting the link so I'm leaving it out) The off road lights are Sylvania 9005 (HB3) 65 Watt. I have not checked this so I cannot guarantee it is accurate. After looking at them on Sylvania's site, it sounds right.

I recalled that the former Hummer dealership next to my work had a set on display so I stopped by at lunch. 9005's are correct for both the overhead and the grill mounted offroad lights.

Default Wattage of rooftop off road lights

Can anyone confirm the wattage of the rooftop optional bulbs? I was thinking of installing them on my 08 h3. At almost five hundred dollars with switches wiring etc. I want to make sure they actually add some illumination and aren't just for show. You guys that use them do you find they help at all??

If you're referring to the OEM offroad lights, those are the same lamp assemblies used in the optional OEM mini grille lights. I have these, and with the Silverstar Ultra bulbs they give me more forward illumination then my headlights with the brights on and the fogs combined.
WOOOPS!....Just noticed the OLD thread you posted in! Better start a new thread if you're going to keep this discussion going.
