I've got an '08 Alpha with Monsoon factory navigation. I don't use the nav and would rather have the 6 disc OEM changer. The harness pins look the same on a 6 disc and the nav, should be a straight swap right? I don't see anything that would make me believe there is a "Monsoon 6 disc" headunit and a "regular 6 disc" headunit. Not like there is a sub out level control. Correct on both accounts?

 

i think monsoon is the only 6 disc. do you have sub/amp?

 

I do, I've got the monsoon now with the nav head unit. Looks to be plug and play, and dealer reset of course.

 

Nav came with monsoon also. I had 6 cd then changed to nav. If you stay OEM the only thing you must do is install unit and then go to dealer to have vin programmed in. If you chose to swap back no issues as the original unit already has your vin programmed. When I had it done dealer charged $40

 

i have a spare 6cd radio. are you saying i can have both set up to use?
id like to have a working backup.

The original is already programmed with vin. Get the other one installed and then programmed. If something happens you can pull it and put the original one back in. Plug n play. No reprogramming needed.

 

ok thanks. i thought maybe the radio info was put into the h3 comp,the reverse.
i have a friend working at gm dealer. ill see if he can get me fixed!
