H3 info
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and looking to purchase a H3 or H3T very very soon. I just have a few questions before I buy one.
1. Are there any common issues that come up with Humers?
2. If you had the chance to do it over again what would you do regarding an H3?
3. What needs to be done to throw on a set of 20" wheels with some 35: tires?
4. Should I go with the 5cly or the V8?
5. Black or white H3? l think maybe the white since it's easier to keep clean. Black lloks so good though.
6. What mods other than wheels and tires are a must?
ANy extra info you guys would like to add please do and thanks!

I really wanted a forest green one, but those are very rare in Hawaii!
GO V8, And get one thats fully loaded, Stay away from 2006! H3 has tons of issues but they all have very easy resolve and one things for sure, they are built to last!!!
Good luck!

Other than the cylinder head for 06-07's not really. Check to see if the head was replaced on a used one.

Buy a 3T, well if the budget allowed for it.
3. What needs to be done to throw on a set of 20" wheels with some 35: tires?
Torsion bar crank and money
4. Should I go with the 5cly or the V8?
Depends on your budget and what you want to do with it, towing anything significant then I would opt for the 8.
5. Black or white H3? l think maybe the white since it's easier to keep clean. Black lloks so good though.
Already had a black one, I got tired of washing it every other day. Black paint takes alot of work to keep new.
6. What mods other than wheels and tires are a must?
Depends on your budget and what you want to do with it. Offroad beast, weekend warrior, street pounder, chrome-holio?
An H3 does not have 'tons of issues'. Every vehicle model ever produced has issues or quirks. You can find out most of the common ones for the 3 on the forums.
Couple of minor changes from 06-07- 3.5 to 3.7, stupid change tray thingy, the most welcome being the moving of the freaking window switches so you don't need and extra elbow to use them.

Well if we are talking "quirks" then we have to be honest about the a)steering shaft issue 2) front axle bushing issue 3)Steering rack bushing issue 4)radiator issue 5) ignition key switch issue 6) rear door clunk issue 7) rear brake pad growling issue 8)weak oem battery terminal issue
But Taulsfan said it best, all vehicles have quirks! Through this forum I have been able to learn every problem with our 3 and still come to the conclusion as said before, Easy to fix, and built to last!!!
Other benefits of H3 are its build solid for safety and its a real eye catcher. Also if you plan to use this vehicle for what it was intended (off roading) you will be smiling from ear to ear!
