H3 + Infill G4 Carputer - finally done
niHello Everyone,
After one month of breaking my head and figuring out what to do, the system is installed and works 100% O.K.
Here are the details for those of you who own a Hummer H3 and want to install the Infill G4.
But first I would like to thank IMPORTKILLER - You are the best. You are the only one in many many forums I searched that actualy gave me working solutions. Thank you.
1. My H3 has the Monsoon Audio system (you can see the writing on the cargo area above the subwoofer.
2. After taking out the front Bezel (see details on how simple it's done at http://www.rausite.com/hummerh3.htm), remove the factory head unit.
3. You will need an after market harness. I used the C2R-GM24 from PAC audio (www.pac-audio.com)
4. Because i chose to stay with the Monsoon Sub and Amp, I needed to purchase 2 ADJUSTABLE LINE OUTPUT CONVERTERS.
I usedthe PAC-SNI35
5. You will also the Scosche double-din installation kit (the front bezel does not fit the Infill G4 without this)
I Used the Scosche GM1595B/ GM1595 . I hope it's strong enough to hold the unit in off-road conditions.
6. You will need Also a Radio Antenna Adapter, in order to plug the original Antenna to the G4 unit.
I used the Scosche MDA1B / MDA1.
7. You will also need to take off the small piece of metal that helped to hold down the original head unit (from the rear). Please see the red circles
in the picture
8. I'm currently using the Infill software just for Radio, and Centrafuse for everything else.
Here is what the system looks after all is said and done

RE: H3 + Infill G4 Carputer - finally done
Regarding the Scosche surround piece, I'm going to do some more work on the top side. It will need to be glued somehow to the inner part of the surround piece.
If you know of any other solution for this, Please let me know

Looks good. How do you like the G4? I'm tempted because I think it may have a higher WAF (Wife Approval Factor) than a home built pc, but not sure if it would be worth the extra cost of building one from scratch.
One other question, what are your thoughts on the position of the screen? It seems to me that the positioning in the H3 may be a little low and a little vertical for optimal viewing.

HI Steve#1,
Loved the WAF thing, I had the same factor problem. Lucky for me, my wife wanted a very expensive vacation, so I allowed my self the G4 (The cost of the unit was about 1600 US$.
Regarding the viewing position - Your are correct in this issue. The angle is not perfect, but that's one of the main reasons that I choose the G4. It has a tilt screen option (you don't have to tilt it all the way out). This nice thing with this option is that once you set the exact tilt angle you need for good viewing, When you shutdown the system, the screen goes back in. But when the system is powerd on again, the screen tilts automaticaly to the angle it was on. I'll try and take a photo of it from the drivers seat to let you know how it looks.
The only thing I'm missing now is a Centrafuse Radio support for the G4. For that reason I have to operate the Infill software for Radio, minimize it, and operate everything else from within CF.
I'll post the picture by tomorrow

GREAT LOOKING JOB!
I'm trying to find a G4 online to replace my AVIC-Z2 in my H2; but it's like they don't exist...no one has them. Can you point me to a distributor (already tried mp3car.com...out of stock...no clue when they will be back in)?
Also...I don't know if the H3 has steering wheel controls, but do you know if they have an interface to maintain the factory fuction when using the G4?
Thanks in advance.
