H3 Hood Louver Replacement

H3 Hood Louver Replacement
I just bought a 2010 H3, and wanted to replace the black hood louver with the OEM Chrome one. I found a chevy dealer that still carries parts and bought one. I just sold my 2007 H3 and had replaced that one the same way.
When I tried to pry the louver on the 2010 up, I could only get it off like a 1/2 inch. With a light I can see that the louver is GLUED down!! Must have been with the recall. The place i bought the louver from will not take it back and is referring me to their body shop ( they will call monday with a price )
My question is..... Is there any way to do it myself? I don't want to ruin the hood, in any way.
If I can't figure it out, I might be selling an OEM chrome hood louver soon.
Let me know if anyone has gotten the louver off with it being glued down.
Any help is appreciated, thanks

I had the same problem....that glue is from another planet or something (toughest stuff I ever tried to get off). I tried everything from fishing line, heat guns...list goes on and I could NOT get it off. I took mine to a local body shop and they had to CUT it off (in small sections) and once removed the glue had to be heated and slowly scraped off (small plastic tool) and then a minor bit of buffing the paint finish. In the end....all was good and the hood was not damaged. Took the body shop 1.5 hours of non stop work and a charge of $60. The shop said they had never seen a glue so tough....
Hope this helps...

The dealer replaced mine after the recall had been done and it came off in one piece. They got one corner loose and continued to pull up working their way around. Maybe the recall wasn't done correctly but I watched that also. The correct bonding agent was used and they were following directions they had printed out. Maybe it was just dumb luck.
