H3 -Aluminum found in motor oil
Just completed first oil change, when I removed the factory oil filter I found curled pieces of aluminum in the filter such as you would get if you were drilling holes in aluminum.I have not spoken with the dealership yet my H3 has about 700 miles on the clock.I chose to do first oil change myself versus the dealer.Lucky findings I guess.Have all sorts of thoughts as to what this may be doing to my motor.I am not sure what I should expect the dealership or GM do about it.I installed a K&N oil filter and plan on flushing again at 600 more miles. The way I see it, the only way to find out if it is all out is to tear down the motor. Not I or GM would fancy this idea.I will speak with my dealership was I get a few opinions. Please Help

Calm down..It's nothing..it was left over from manuafacturing..Probably when the tapped the hole for the oil filter beside at least the oil filter contained it...Nothing to worry about..it would nothavemade it into the engine...And another good reason to change oil at about 1000 miles the first time, to get all that gunk out from the building of the engine.

Agree...it's normal to see some curled pieces of aluminum when you remove the oil filter the first time you've done it. I've had seen one in my Mercedes oil filter. I didn't panicked since my bro told me that before.
