Default H3 2007 replacing head unit problems

Hello,
I've just finished replacing my H3 head unit (I believe it's monsoon because it's written above the sub in the cargo area). I do not have Onstar.

The new head Unit is actualy the Infill G4 car PC (includes a FM radio and 4x45W Amp).

I used the PAC C2R-GM24 after market harness to connect my G4 to the original harness car. The only modification I had to make to the PAC C2R-GM24harness, is to cut the 4 RCA connectors and solder them directly to the 4 audio outputs from the Infill G4.
I now have two anoying problems:

1.There is astatic noise in my speakers. The static is there even when the engine is off and the Infill G4 is in MUTE state.
The static noise islouder when ever the G4 (CarPC)access the hard disk, or the CPU is working harder.

2. I have to use very low level Audio setting in my Pc, Other wise the sound is way to loud.

I think I need the PAC SNI-35 to be installed between my G4 and the PAC C2R-GM24 harness. This should solve 2 problems (I hope):

1. Reduce the Audio output to pre-amp levels
2. using the built-in ground loop isolation in the PAC SNI-35, it sould eliminate the static noise.

Any good advice would be helpfull (I hope I'm not doing anything stupid). I have not orderd yet the PAC SNI-35, So please H E L P!. The static noise is realy realy anoying.

Again, Many thanks in advance for your help

Haim

well, as the resident car audio installer here I think I can help you. Rca connectors are a shielded cable to prevent static and help reduce alternator hiss also the rca's are a low pass input where as the regular speaker level inputs are a high pass...cutting the rcas and wiring them to a high pass input will give you lots of static and unlevel sound distortions. unfortunelty you will need to buy a new pac harness to replace the one you cut the rca's on, then you'll need to install an rca to line level adapter....pac makes one I think, so does scoche(sp) and phoenix gold....this is the only way to get your new head unit to correctly work with the monsoon system.

hope this helps

I just did some research and the pac harness you bought WILL NOT work with an h3...I will call my old distributor and see what will. Hopefully I can get in touch with him today for you.

did some looking around cause my distributor is out for the weekend.

seems to me you should be using the PAC C2R-GM24...it is what we have used on 2006 h3's and I haven't seen anything about changes made to the 2007's. But there are a few things you will NEED TO modify!!! Check out this bulletin about it:

To Importkiller,
Firts I Would very very much like to thank you for your help. So please let me know iF I understood you:

What I need to do is:

1. On the factory harness, Put the 3 purple wires together as shown in thes link:

http://www.pac-audio.com/bulletins/2006h3wiringchange.pdf

2. Can i Solder new RCA connectors to the PAC C2R-GM24, instead of buying a new connector ?

3 Buy the PAC SNI-35 (which looks like a rca to line level adapter)

And everything should work?

Again
Many thanks for your help

your welcome....glad I could help you,

I guess that ,y replies were rather confusing..so here goes...throw your harness away....all you will need is the PAC C2R-GM24 that I mentioned one or replies above....that will be the only thing you need....it is a wiring harness and has the line levels you will need....either high or low...it should have both. Doesn't your new head unit have RCA out plugs on the back of it? I would assume so...nearly every aftermarket made today had rca jacks. If so then just wire rca's from back of radio to rca's in the PAC C2R-GM24...if not then use the line level wires.

The diagram in that link I sent you is a diagram for the PAC C2R-GM24....wire it exactly as it shows and you should be fine.

Sorry but the Infill G4 CarPC DOES NOT have RCA outputs. It has 4 High level outputs only, And I'm allready using the PAC C2R-GM24 (but I did not do the purple wires thing), and I have CUT the RCA heads and wired it directly to my G4 Audio Outputs

So I guess I'll need to buy the PAC SNI-35 (which looks like a rca to line level adapter) aftre all?
