I have towed several items and have found no problems after I installed a supercharger. Before that everytime I went over a small incline or abridge the truck would downshift. The constant down shifting got very annoying. Since the supercharger, I have towed a loaded trailer which has over 15,000 (obvouisly pushing the envelope for a stock H2) and have had no problems at all! Its a go idea if you are going to pull heavy loads you might want to up grade your disc brakes. Stopping a 8500 truck pulling a 10,000lb load can get pretty tricky. As for the gas mileage while in tow, I do fairly well, around 10 to 12mpg if I go easy. Otherwise when you kick in the supercharger it drops big time; 4 to 6mpg.

i towed a 26' camper from Sacramento, to Vegas, to Moab, and back thru SLC and northern Nevada. it's not a speed demon, but i was able to keep up with the 2 40' motorhomes i was following. if you're worried about mileage, my suggestion would be to not tow anything. just don't look at the instant mileage readout while you're going uphill . . . Just bought an '03 last week, hitched up to my 30' cherokee toy hauler (7700 lbs.) and it leveled up and pulled it like a champ. I averaged just under 7 mpg. while towing the trailer. Hope this helped.

Our H2 pulls our 12' custom enclosed motorcycle trailer w/o any problem(s)

whatsoever. U-Haul fixed us up with the appropriate dropball mount/

ballassembly, so that the trailer rides at the appropriate (level) height.

I have pulled 10,000lbs and while you might get passed by someone on bike going up a hill it is rock solid. My buddy usedthe truckto pull his boat, he has a Tahoe and said it was night and day between them.
Much better than the Tahoe.

I have a stock05' H2 SUT. I was told that it could easily tow my 24 ft. aluminum frame enclosed trailer (5,000 pounds). It can not, regardless of tow mode. WithANY incline oreven the smallest hill, the SUT will downshift hard and rev the rpms.Because the SUT and the trailer are a customized and matched set, I must use the SUT to tow.I am now trying to find a MagnaChargeror Whipple supercharger kit for it. I like the water intercooler system of the MagnaCharger, but Ialsolike the twinscrew compressor of the Whipple.

Is there a technique to towing with an H2 that I am unaware of ??????????

I had an 18' car trailer behind mine (1650lbs), towed 75 mph and still got 11 mpg.... I used the tow button but saw no difference at all with something that light.
