H2-Anyone rebuild their front differential? Looking for tips
2003 H2 -My front diff was damaged due to being run dry, (to what extent still unknown) I've been searching for a used unit to swap in but there pretty pricey.
I've found alot of different rebuild kits forsale all for around $200 or less.
Here's one: Car Part Wholesale - Auto Parts and Accessories Catalog - Timken Differential Rebuild Kit Drk324a - For 2003
Has anyone on here had one of these apart? Any tips on the procedure would be great. At this point im going to pull it and try and rebuild it myself.
I may be dreaming here but is there a way to make this truck not all wheel drive? I'd love to have a 2HI option. AWD with 4:10 gears is crazy.
Just a thought...

no i never did it. some opinions; i dont see gears in the kit?
replacing gears is very critical, spacing,it aint just a bolt in
a good used one,the easiest way out.
4.10 rear?, the 3.7,i5 is 4.56!.
the big tires demand a gear to turn them.
i didnt believe it till i figured the entire ratio, engine, tran,od,rear, tires. it takes a big gear!
it aint ez like a ford 9 inch

I got the differential out today. Removal wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.
By looking through the large plastic screw in plug I can see that the gears are damaged.
Anyone know how the case comes apart? I've removed all the bolts, but somehow the axle shaft plates have to come out. Are they pressed on?
