The Hummers you buy aren't related to the military HUMVEE. The Hummers will still be built here in America. They are going to expand the model offerings and possibly available engine options. They are going to continue with the H2. Hummer will still be run and managed by the current management team. Dealers will still be open to sell and service your Hummers. If you currently own a Hummer it is an American made vehicle. If you buy one from the new owner guess what...it will still be an American made vehicle.
Would you really rather see the brand disappear entirely? Would you rather not have a dealership within driving distance of you. Perhaps you would prefer no one to service your truck or sell you spare parts?
While I would have preferred AMG buy Hummer from GM I am happy that the brand and its support will continue. I will be especially happy if I am able to buy an HX/H4 next year.

Default GM Service

I assume GM will still service the Hummers... ?

Will GM honor the existing warranties? I purchased mine used from a local GM dealer so they will cover the warranty work if needed... because the closest Hummer dealer is 100+ miles away. Now will I have to drive 100+ miles to the Hummer dealer for service?

Go to www.hummerguy.net and read the articles. That will probably answer most questions.

Yeah GM will honor warranties. Maybe the Chinese company will give a much needed cash infusion that will revamp the line and market the Hummer brand better.

No answers to the question of GM dealers doing warranty work on existing Hummers they sold... or if you will have to take them to Hummer dealers.

I know that many people will look at this like Black Tuesday for Hummer owners, but I am for anyone that is willing to invest in such a great vehicle. I would rather it be American made, although reality is the vehicle is made up of parts from all over the place and several nations right now. I think this is a lot better deal than the India thing discussed a few months ago. I am just trying to stay positive about this because we have no choice. Let's hope that they invest even more and we can get better deals on accessories because they will have to pry my Hummer from my cold dead hands. LOL

When I first heard I was pretty disappointed, but in reality this is the best case scenario for Hummer. I hope it can keep its niche and keep producing one hell of a truck.

Could it be worse?

The Harley came close to being bought out by the Japanese. So the Harley brothers and the workers bought it before it got into the wrong hands.

It will be a dark day.....
Actualy Harley was bought by a Japanese co in 1983 then bought back by the employes in the late 80's early 90's ...they (Sichuan Tengzhong) are only buying the marketing of the brand not the manufacturing of it (the H3 is still made in a GM factory next to the canyon...H2 still made by AM General) so it will now have 3 partners one who owns the name one who makes it and one who markets it ..... that is at least to my understanding...that is unless AM Gen sold it all to GM and was just the disign house for them

I took my H3 into the Chevy dealer for service just yesterday. Mine's LS2 powered, so they just pretended it was a Corvette. Of course, I voided the warranty when I swapped the engine. Your local Chevy dealership will service your Chevy, Hummer, Pontiac GTO, etc. Don't worry. You're covered

Cool HUMMER aftermarket opens up--finally?

I was initially shocked at the final buyer of HUMMER--all slanted opinions aside; I''m up for keeping the HUMMER brand alive instead of flushing it in the wake of GM's bad decisions. I'm hoping this will FINALLY open up the aftermarket companies to start providing a flood of bolt-on options for the H3. So far, we have been severely handicapped by all the major companies who did not want to invest time and energy into developing parts for a vehicle that they did not know would be around. Look at our options for front and rear bumpers (one aftermarket rear bumper available that I am aware of, something like two or three actual aftermarket front bumpers--ARB, Boulder Acc. & H2O). How about limited suspension choices--Rancho and Rough Country, come on, we need some SAS kits! Minimal engine mods--even engine swaps (nobody has talked about swapping in an LS1 or any crate-8 into the underpowered I-5 H3). And all of these options are way overpriced for the most part. With a new buyer and renewed interest in the HUMMER brand, maybe we can get on with seriously customizing our trucks for off roading and getting rid of that whole bling perception that we have been stuck with.
