Default Gas?

With gas prices down, large SUVs are much more affordable. However, I know they must go up and at $4.00 a gallon, 9-12MPG is almost unbearable. How much do you guys average on gas? Please list how much you drive, how much you pay and what type of mileage you normally get. Thanks.

Everyone always asks me what kind of mileage I get. I always tell them 22 mpg. 10 in the city and 12 on the highway.

I get 12 mpg in my H2. Its not a daily driver though. I use it after work and on weekends. Average aout 7k-8k miles per year. $4/ gal hurts but I dont commute in it, so its not so bad. But I did find myself driving it less.

26 miles each way each day 5 day commute. Part City part Highway. 12.4 mpg. South Florida so no hills. Cruise Control is your friend. $40.00 per tank per week in the good times, $100.00 per week at $4.00+.

...was 12.3 mpg with Mobil 1. Tried Royal Purple full Synthetic and went up to 12.4. I guess their claim of increased mpg is true. My driving habits have not changed. Interesting. Wonder what kind of increase you would get in a 4 or 6 banger car?

I am going to look at an H2 Wednesday, and I am a little concerned about gas. I had a 1998 Tahoe that averaged about 15, so I'm not foreigner to gas guzzling vehicles. I have however owned a Civic for the past year and have been spoiled. With $4 gas, I was paying about $48 to fill the tank and was averaging 33mpg.

The Civic is just no fun. [:@]

I don't know if this is really relevant information, but, apparently the H2 is based of the Tahoe, with just a different body. So maybe you'll see similar results with gas.

But, you should consider the H3 if gas is a huge problem, because it will go back up. Also, I believe the H2 has a 121 litre tank which is giant, whereas I think the H3 has an 87 litre tank, and some have a 70 litre tank.

My H3 is my first car so I don't really have anything to compare it with, but I actually think it does pretty good on gas. Probably a lot better than your 98 Tahoe anyways.
