Functional hood vents finally done!

LOL I know what you're saying, I just disagree, velocity of the fan is fixed yes, but the volume is not, if you have a fan pulling into a sealed box, no matter how fast you spin it you will get less air than if the back of the box was open. That is as simplified as my point can get. No one has proved that the fan is 100% as efficient as it could be, infact I'd say it can't be cuz it pulls directly into an engine block so every little bit may infact help. Again, both sides of this discussion is theoretical so I'll stop now. But I ga-run-tee no one can disagree with at least the closed box analogy.

Now if I only had the time LOL

This thread is getting very technical. Lol.
Look I did what I wanted to do with my hood. Not trying to prove or improve or even worsen anything.
Call it a placebo but when I'm sitting in traffic and watching heat waves come out of the vents it makes me feel good and that itself was worth all the doing of this mod.
Is it helping or lowering my temps? According to my scangauge it's been running pretty low temp wise, (179-188) and been getting avg. mpg of 14.4 during city driving so must not be hurting my truck.

I installed louvers on my H3, one each outboard of the plastic "louver". I have noticed that the temps are slower to come up and quicker to drop but still go up to the same range. It seems that once the engine bay had been soaked with heat that the louvers did nothing to allow the engine to cool more. Turning off the a/c was the only thing that reliably reduced temps on the scangauge. As much as I wanted to report positively on the mod it is only a partial success as my overall, heat soaked, engine compartment temps did not drop around town. I dont know how it will do on the trail yet, but based on my stoplight to stoplight city driving I dont think I fully acheived my goal.

I switched to a lighter unit from Realwheels, which is cheaper and lighter but still very high quality.
