Default Fuel door install on 2003 H2 - HELP!

Hi everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here and was hoping anyone would have any insight on how to help me out!

I got one of these GM Chrome fuel doors (non-locking) off craigslist for $20. But it was only until after I got home I found it doesn't fit on my truck!

And I'm trying to install it on my 2003 H2 which currently has this:

I assumed when I got it i would be able to just drill holes in the plastic fuel pocket and install it like the locking defenderworx units, but alas it doesn't!

Later research found this!

The assembly from the factory came with a spacer between the door and the fuel pocket, and from what I understand the screw holes on the fuel door screw into the black spacer (highlighted in red) and then the black spacer (highlighted in red) screws into factory fuel pocket. I went to a GM dealer and they told me they can't do anything as the fuel pocket and the spacer come as a complete kit with the fuel door, and I'd have to purchase the whole thing!

So I think I'm correct in saying I'm missing the black plastic spacer between my chrome fuel door and my factory fuel pocket? Does anyone know if there is a work-around or where I can purchase the spacer? I really don't want to have to go out and drop $200 on a fuel door when all I need is this black spacer! HELP!

Thanks in advance everyone!

^I don't think that will work either unless you rigged it up.

You are correct on how it mounts though. The fuel door has the chrome allen bolts and nuts that hold it to the spacer. Then I believe 3 of those allen bolts actually secure the door/spacer to the fuel neck.

Unfortunately they are extremely expensive in my opinion but its really the only way.
