Hello-
Has anyone has a issue with there front skid plate falling off while off-roading? I have had this issue happen to me twice. The first time I was able to strap it to the frame, the second time it completely fell off during moderate wheeling. I talked to my Hummer service dept. and they blamed it on there quick lube crew for not using the power wrench to tighten down the bolts. It sounds like normal procedure is to hand tighten then manually wrench tight. Just curious.

Never had it happen. And the skid plate is always tightened by hand, including by the oil change place. I've had two bolts fall out but I suspect they weren't put in correctly and/or the fastener wasn't properly in place. I did replace the fastener in one corner.

I agree it relates back to the moroooons doing your oil changes. IMHO if you use an impact gun to tighten the skid plate bolts you will more than likely tear up the threads. Impact wrench to take them off andput them back on just a little snug, then hand tighten to no more than 30# Tq.
