Mine starting doing it after I started beating on it offroad. I'm guessing that was the last straw for my shocks. I also get the bumpsteer when cornering, it's a very scary feeling to feel your wheel go slack when it should have the resistance of the tires being on the road.

I'm guessing new shocks will cure it, just haven't had the extra money to spend on them lately.

Well I took half a day off work yesterday and picked up my new shocks. I also swung by my local chevy dealer and grabbed a new steering rack bushing as it was only $36. I spent 5 hours replacing the shocks and bushings. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!!! No more fighting the steering wheel to keep it going streight down the road after hitting bumps or grooves in the road. No more hitting little bumps while cornering and having the front end skip accross the pavement. The Bilsteins make it ride a little stiffer then the stock shocks did " when they were working properly that is", but I can certainly live with that and I am soooooo happy to have control of my H3 again. It was money and time well spent.

And to answer you question about the tires. Yes, I just purchase $1200 worth of Michelin A/T's, and before that I had the original Duelers on it. I tried all different air preasures and nothing helped, not even the new tires that I opted to have filled with Nitrogen - which I am running at 40lbs. But thanks for the added idea's.

Yes I do believe it was the B6 model. I purchased them through my local Autozone parts store.

Awesome Scorpion, had a feeling the steering rack bushing is a culprit to this issue, along with the shocks!!! Im thinking the damaged bump stops and how they are sitting on the lower control arm are also what caused mine to behave like this..

I just wish the dealers would get thier heads out of thier butts and start keeping up with the symptoms that vehicles they sell have and the fixes for them. As I have noticed over the years of research on the different vehicles I have owned, most of the problems I have had have been the same problems of a lot of other people and very common problems that should have been recognized by the dealers. But whenever I mension to a dealer a specific problem with a vehicle and that from my research have found that tons of others are having the same things wrong with thier vehicles, the dealers always say "Oh this is the first I have heard of this problem", or that they can not find the underlaying cause. I am so glad that I have forums and others like myself to fall back on.

Exactly!

Glad to see the rack bushing worked for you. I have had to replace several of them and even the entire rack. Wheeling takes it's toll on them and they wear out quicker.

You say several of these? Awww man! Even after the new steering rack you needed to change that bushing? Found this post on the HummerX forum that shows a DIY "bulletproof" fix for this issue.

Where do you buy your bushings from, do you have a hook up? Thanks!

You can get the bushings from the dealer like Scorpion did. I do have the "Hunner" clamps for both rigs. As soon as they are over the 4/50k B2B warranty they are going on.
