Front end bouncing all over the road
Hello all, I have an 06 H3, adventure. I bought it about a year and a half ago with a little over 19k on it. When I first got it and for a long while after this thing road awesome. After driving a lot of trucks and suv's in my time, this thing was like driving a caddy. Now with only 39k on it, it is driving more like a lumber wagon. I have had multiple garages look at the front end and all say everything looks good. I was told that maybe it was the original Dueler tires that were causing it to ride like that. The tires were getting a lot of weather cracking so I decided to get new ones. I bought a set of 285 Michelin A/T's, but I still have the same problem. The truck wanders over the road and if you hit a groove or uneven spot it pulls you that way. If you hit bumps in the road the front end bounces all over the place and jerks the wheel. If you are going around a corner and hit bumps the truck starts jumping accross the road. It gets hairy sometime esspecially if I am not expecting it. I know that this truck should not be driving like this as it was driving like a well built machine when I bought it. I am hoping someone has run into the same issue and a resolution they could share.
Thank you all in advance.

Yes, I was going to go with shocks as well, but after spending $400 on doing a full brake job and a little over $1,200 for tires all within the last week and a half, I will have to wait on shocks as even the OEM ones are a little over $100 a piece. I do not go off road much and when I do it is fairly mild, can anyone suggest a shock that will give me a great over the road ride and handling that will not break the bank, or should I just stick with the OEM shocks?

You may also want to have your steering gear checked. The bracket that holds the steering gear has a "bushing" behind it and over time there will be "slop" in that bushing (rubber thingy). It is a bitch to replace but once it is tight again you will have that new HUMMER H3/H3T feel. If your shocks are not leaking and your front end is not bouncing uncontrollably (more than once per obsticle) I doubt it is your shocks.

I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE!!! So my gatherings seem to indicate its a mix between, new shocks, worn/damaged bump stops, aggressive tires, and last but not least, a weak steering rack bushing. I haven't yet but want to do the test for steering bushing weakness, someone posted about jacking the vehicle up onto stands, lay under the vehicle and shake the tires with your legs/feet. This should be able to create enough force to see what ever is loose in there!!!!

Yea my H3 does the exact same thing. Ive had the front end checked the steering is tight. Its still like new just flipping 50,000 on a 2006. I don't know what the problem is with front end. Mine only does it if i am going over 35 mph and doing like a gradual turn or curve on the roadway. If there is a bump or uneven road of any kind it throws my front end almost like you would hit a patch of ice.
I do have a little better control with lower air pressure in my tires i noticed, but it didn't actually take it away..

No my H3 was already leveled when I bought it, and I was told from a dealer that it was leveled at the factory because it came with the adventure package. I bit the bullet and ordered a set of four Bilsteins that should be in today. I am also going to check to see what the measurements are reading from hub to the bottom of the wheelwell and if my bumpstop have enough clearence for suspension travel. Is the 23.5" the norm for having the adventure package after leveling? Also cudo's for the tip about the steering box bushing. This is the first I had heard of this issue and even though I had considered it may be something with the steering box, I probably would not have guessed that. So that gives me something else to check.
