Default Fix Shaking?

As you guys know, I just got an 09 H2.

I have some symptoms I want to fix, but I'm not sure where to start.

1. The steering wheels shakes, both when I drive & am idle.
2. I am getting some side to side shaking when going over 65 mph. (stock tires @ 40psi 305/60R20; 58 psi felt good, but harsh & that's too hard on the suspension & tries).
3. I feel vibrations (and hear them) through the vehicle. Lowering the PSI in the tires helped a bit, but not enough to provide a smooth ride.

I don't see anything specifically wrong under the truck. It doesn't look like oil has leaked from either the CV joints or the shocks. The rubber grommets on the front & rear shocks are dry rotten & cracking. Same with the rubber shock absorbers between the frame & body.

The H2 has shocks & not the air ride system. About 107K miles on it.

Here's some pics of what I was talking about. You might notice, there's black stuff all over everything, like creosote. It's dirt, but I've never see anything like that before.

I plan on replacing the shocks, even though they still seem ok (I never replaced the shocks on my 03 & it always ran well). Tie rods will get replaced too as they seem rusted, like everything else.

I think moving to 17s & KO2s will fix my wobble issue, but I'm not sure about the overall ride quality & shaking steering wheel.

Thoughts?

What kind of shape are your tires in? It could have something to do with it.

Citiboy brought that up in my other thread. Could be run out, could be tires or wheels.

The tires have seen better days. All the space around each lug has superficial cracking. There's also some uneven wear... speak of the devil, that's probably why I'm getting the shakes!

That would be my guess! I would just go ahead and get new tires and an alignment and I bet that will fix a lot of your problems.

Definitely sounds likes new tires and an alignment would help, good luck!

What about the steering wheel?

I'm guessing it's the CJ joint as I feel vibrations while the vehicle is idle in park, neutral or with the break on. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't know.

Default Wobbling

My h2 wobbles at around 40mph and it feels like it's gonna fall apart the steering wheel shakes really bad. But it's not constant and without hitting a bump or pot hole and it's only for a brief moment .. I have 26" and the tires are in good shape. No mods to suspension all stock.. I don't know where to start checking it's my first hummer.

Your body mounts look fine, I would say that the 17" wheels and BG KO2, and new Bilstien shocks will definitely fix your problem. I recently bought an 03 Tahoe and I got a deal on some GM take off 20" wheels for it. Bought new Bridgestones and it rides like your H2 now. Steering shake when you hit a bump. rough ride and so on. I am going to sell the 20's and put a set of 17" take off wheels and tires on it.
