Default the fix is in,,!!

illinois democrat?,,, no, the lock mode kill switch, hiddeen in the heat vent. flip it with a pencil,if you can find it. now im safe, from myself and anyone who MIGHT get to drive my h3.
the sw opens the lead to the hi/lo lock buttons, they just do nuttin now.
the ,poor, pix shows where it can be mounted, could go under the seat, etc,,
its a tticky mod, only for the guy who can do surgery on printed circuit boards.
as i suspected it was not simple, it took a couple trace cuts,a jumper, and the 2 wires to the sw.
anyone wanting to do it will need to get a look and see how, maybe better than i did.
a good tech friend can help. i can advise but you will need to do critical work.
years ago i did this routinely, not now. try threading a needle with one eye closed to see what i mean!!

oh,the other conn is for the flashing red led lock warning i did last yr.

Is that circuit independently fused, that you could have tapped a switch into instead of the circuit board?

3 buttons,4hi,4hi lock,4 lo lock. the object is to disable the lock mode buttons. they are all on the front panel control panel. the buttons close switches all together there on a long circuit board with indicator lites.
its the only possible place to do it
the 3 swwitches have a resistor in series, different values.
the controller reads the resistor and knows which button is pushed.
with the kill sw open, nothing happens when pushing the button.
only the 4 hi is used. IF,,,you trust that the h3 will default to 4hi,always as it seems to do,you might just open that wire OUTSIDE the circuit board enclosure. ha, theres an idea to be checked!
edit, checked,,no it stays in lock if shut off in lock so there is no safe default.

just shut down in lock mode and restart. it its in 4 hi,well as the brits say,"bobs your uncle"!!you're all set to cut that wire. it would be ez er!!

one thing i know positively, this kill sw absolutly works,no more concerns

Just 2 questions. Why do this, and why put a switch in a heat vent.

why?, people accidently get into 4hi lock and dont know it. a lot of people have posted endless problems caused by this. you can trash a lot of parts if you drive in lock on dry pavement.

i dont want to get there by mistake, a bump of the button. its a simple idea, not easy to do but worth it to me. if someone else drives a h3 and doesnt know better they could wreck it.

why put it in the heat duct?. its ez,and close by,ez to switch,IF you know its there. it could be under the dash,in glove box, under the hood!, so it really dont matter.

i just offer up ideas to minimize future headaches !!ive had a flashing led to warn me of lock mode, this eliminates the possibility.
you dont need either, till you need it!

drtom: iffin ya is so stupd ya kant c a lite, yaint gunna B SMRT nuff to B puttin no ez switch in yer ventz.

For those of you who don't speak drtom the above says:
If you are not intelligent enough to see an indicator light on your dash, you are not going to be smart enough to wire and install this "EZ switch" inside your vents.

ill be saf, u kin du what u want!! until nov its still a free country!

some people will always be too smart to take good advice.

ya know what, its like insurance, you dont need it,,,till you need it!!

like when your wife tells you the hummer has been bumpin and grinding for a week now,all during that 400 mile trip she and her girlfriend made. sometime it goes "pop"

My kill switch is much simpler and takes less time. I tell anyone who gets in, if you touch any buttons other than the radio and your window switch I will kill you. 100% success rate. Problem solved, time saved.

You have got to be kidding right? ROLMAO. You don't see the lights or feel it when you turn.
And in the heating vent? LOL. 007 spy stuff.

Default feel it when you turn

yeah!, do it that way,,,invite trouble. you will only notice it on hard turns but the stress is there on even the slightest turn and that can be the most wearing time, long turns=constant strain on the drive system. so relax and dont worry. if you dont notice it well thats ok!!
do it your way,i just supply the facts!
