Default First time ever using a clay bar

I have threatened to use the clay bar system on my vehicles but never done it before.

I practiced on my H3 by clay baring and the 3 step Mcguire system. It wasnt nearly as difficult or did it take as long as I expected.

A great mirror finish too. Not a great scenic background etc but you get the picture.

Looks good!

I clayed the Viper for the first time last weekend and it wasn't near as difficult or time consuming than I thought it would be. Granted, I only hit any kid of crap on the surface in tiny little spot.

I haven't gotten around to doing the H2 yet. I'm sure it will be a little more work.

I really like claying the H3 since it has a lot of nice flat surfaces. Those clay bar kits are alright, but the clay could be a lot better. If you really want to do it right, find a nice bar on amazon or somewhere else, and you can use any brand of quick detailer.

Take the bar and smack it out flat to about the size of your palm, wet down a section, and clay it. I takes me about two minutes to clay an H3 front door if I go up around the window too.

Claying isn't about just getting a good finish, its also about removing impurities in the paint that will lead to surface rust eventually. I make it a point to clay on my door jambs and the painted surfaces hidden when the door closes. One part of it was full of so much fallout and road grime that I had to use rubbing compound on the area after claying it to get it totally clean.

Your truck looks great!

I have used the Zaino Bothers system for years. I sold my 12 y/o Camaro and the paint looked brand new. I start with washing the car with dish detergent to remove any old wax, clay bar, then use a polish (glaze) and then wax, polish, wax, polish, wax... I then wax every couple of months...

I use the two bucket system. I used the clay bar last weekend and have used it since I got my H3. Always comes out looking new, came in handy to remove that rail dust.
