First Oil Change

First Oil Change
Well I just did my first oil change. Let me clarify, the first one I’ve ever done myself. Not too bad, kinda like it. I figured if Jiffy lube hires high school drop outs, I’m sure I can do it from reading all the oil change posts on here. One thing though, I used a lift bay. When I went to put the lift under the frame, I noticed that the skid plate for the gas tank is in the way. So, I had to take that off. Next time I wont be using the lift bay. Oh, if anyone is wondering, I went with Royal Purple. I have used it in the past and liked it. I might try Amsoil next time, but it’s easier to go to auto parts store to get RP than order Amsoil.

Haven't tried on the Hummer's yet probably won't until my service agreement ends. Good to know how though, if I hadn't read everyone's oil change posts on here I can imagine the thoughts when I went to do it and noticed the skid plates in the way

Been running RP for 13 years, and am still impressed. GREAT STUFF. Did my first oil change lastweek on the H3. Don't you just love how the cross-member is in the exact spot to get oil all over it. I've heard of this prob in the I5, but my Alpha had same placement issues. Filter is a piece of cake to get to though!

Yeah, and the funny thing... when I took the drain plug out, I thought the oil would just pour out from there. Didn't realize how far it was going to shoot out. I missed the drain pan by like 6 inches. I looked retarded, oh well, good times.

I changed out my oil a few times on my H3 and it's not bad, the thing I don't get is why the hell did they put the drain plug on the side like that and not at the bottom[:@], it does get messy.
