Default few basic questions

So i just bought a 06 h3 with 48k miles. I am use to doing my own maintaince on my vehicles, I plan on doing an oil change soon and would like to know what most people recomend with this truck? I have lived by quakerstate for the last 7 yrs. is there a better iol someone would recomend using to get the most out of the motor?

I have already ordered a performance chip for the truck and i am thinking of getting a new air intake, any sugesstions of weather it worth getting? I know it will improve hp a bit but is it worth it? and was just woundering if it would help out in mpg? someone told me it would.

any suggested mods anyone would suggest to me would be great

As with any performance mod, YYMV, some people report improvements with an intake, some don't. Whatever you do, go with an air doc intake, I've seen too many people here go through the other ones before settling on the air doc. I think the price of the air doc is very fair, even with the addition of a filter.

If you want more mileage out of your vehicle your best bet is going to be sending your PCM away to PCMForLess.com, you'll get a better tune by filling out their order sheets than you will from a hand held tuner.

Oil wise I use Mobil 1 Truck & SUV with an AC Delco filter. I noticed a couple other brands of filters made my engine a tad noisier.

I'm with you, go with the mobile 1, engine will last longer and you can change the oil every 4-5 k ................................Only problem is the oil filter...........It sits right above the axle, need to put a rag there to change it and wipe up any leftover to keep the area clean. And do bolt up the skid pans after the change............Don't need to lift the truck or put on ramps, unless you're like 500lbs.....................

+1 for the Air Doc. Unlike some other intake mods, it allows the flexability to keep your stock air filter if you don't want to go with something like a K&N. Plus it seems to be tried and true from all the ppl. on this forum who got one.

The 100% synthetic is also a great way to go. I use Amsoil but Mobil 1, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc... as long as it's 100% synthetic it will help protect your engine better with longer service intervals while squeezing out an extra 1-2 mpg. I have switched all the fluids on my truck to 100% synthetic and from what I've noticed it has been the single thing that has helped my fuel economy plus I get the piece of mind of knowing my trucks components are better protected for a longer amount of time.
I've heard from some that the tranny fluid and diff. fluid is already full synthetic from the factory which is why they have such long service intervals but I changed mine before I started doing a lot of towing and I don't regret it.

I am with you....not sure about the I5 but my Alpha has a 7500 mile interval before the stupid light comes on.....Oil filter is the key....don't buy the $5 filter at Waltucky....get a good K&N or get a NAPA Gold since they are Wix filters anyway. All fluids in my 08 Alpha were Synthetic. I don't know about the air filter....only one offered for my beast is the K&N and I am in too much dirt & sand to want to risk that extra airflow.

It's not uncommon. Different filters are made differently, different filtering media, density, etc which translates into different flow rates which effects oil pressure.

Makes sense that different oil pressures could make an engine sound different if you think about it. I've heard of jeeps that knock with certain oil filters and not with others.
