Extended Warranty Question

Extended Warranty Question
I am considering a 2006 H2 with 51,000 miles. My big concern is it is out of warranty. Should this deter me? Has anyone bought an H2 that was out of warranty with the same reservation and what did you end up doing, i.e. purchased an extended warranty (if so how much cost am I looking at and how do I go about buying a good one?), bagged the 2006 model year and just paid the extra $$$ to move up to the 2007 model which still has remaining warranty?

You'll replace the idler and pitman arms at least by 100k miles and you'll also go through some other front end components. But overall these suckers are built well. I have 105k and my friend has 155k. If you stay to your maintenance schedule you should have no issues. Hope this helps

I bought my H2 when it was out of warranty by three months. I bought an extended warranty and I have broken even on the expense -- mostly electrical components. I still have another 55,000 miles and 5-1/2 years of coverage left. I feel it was a good purchase, and that comes from a person that is loath to buy extended warranties.

Thanks to all who recommended the extended warranty.
I looked at a 2006 H2 today with 51,000 miles. It looked great on the outside and underneath however the guy beat the snot out of it on the inside. Also, the cheap plastic on the doors rattled quite a bit when I grabbed the door handle from the inside and also if I was on uneven roads or hit a bump. I didn't expect that. I thought the H2 would be much tighter built. My 2006 H3 had zero rattles after 3 1/2 years of ownership and I expected the same of this 2006 H2. I might look at another 2006 H2 with 52,000 miles tomorrow.

Just my two cents worth.
I bought a H2 2006 with 39,000 miles on it. I did not buy the warranty. So far no trouble.
Knock on wood, I would go without it. They offered me one for 2 thousand dollars and I passed on it.

My 07 H2 with 53,000 miles sure has the pops, rattles and buzzes compared to my Lexus LX470 I sold to by the H2. But the H2 is fun to drive and nothing looks better than a black H2 with chrome wheels when it's cleaned up!
I passed on the warranty. Most H2 owners in the area that I talked to said their H2's had been trouble free for the most part.

My 03 H2 was sold at about 50K miles. Replaced one water pump. My 05 SUT only has 21K but zero problems. Most H2 owners I know have had very few issues. If someone hasn't deferred the maintenance on it I wouldn't be overly worried.
