Default Dreaded Radiator Crack - Mechanic in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti

So today I am leaving the office to run an errand and smelled a whiff of coolant. I looked around the truck and didn't see any on the ground, but checked under the hood for the dreaded radiator crack on the top. Sure enough, it is cracked and seeping coolant. I have a 2009 H3 Adventurer.

I called a Chevy dealer and got an estimate and am waiting for another from the GM dealer, but would like to save some money if possible.

Anybody know of a good mechanic in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area that can do the work and get the parts?

Thanks,

DraxHummer

Buy a radiator online like from RockAuto Parts Catalog. Get a Delco replacement
Then have a trusted mechanic install it if you cannot do it yourself.

A dealer is the LAST place you want to get this done. Unless you have deep pockets $$$$

Bunger is right on..... but....

If it were me, I would pull in to the local radiator shop and have them make me a new super duty all aluminum radiator with extra cooling for the transmission lines as well.

While that may sound pricey, it would still be cheaper than going to a stealership.

Agree with bunger. Radiator is on amazon and coolant is at autozone. Dexcool off brand.
Then get a local shop to do it or do it your self.

Thanks! I appreciate the great advice. It's beyond my skill level but I will take the route you suggested.

Not really out of your skill level either. I had never done one and I did mine. Drain antifreeze first, then unhook it and unmount it. Pull it out and slide in New and then replace in reverse then fill. Easy as?a?couple hose clamps and a few screws and nuts.

If you drive to Northern Jersey, I'll do the job for $500 including new Delco parts and GM approved coolant!

Hey y'all got a question here. I look at the rad, in my 07 and while it ain't cracked yet i see near zero clearance bwt the core support and top cap. Has anyone ever ground the core support back .030-.040? Seems the cracks are caused by the rubbing over time. Any thoughts?
