Default Compass issue

I had to have a new rear view mirror and radio installed under warrenty.
When I drove home I noticed the compass was wrong and CAL displayed vertically aside the wrong direction.

So..called the dealer he said to bring it back tomorow.

So..I did a search here on the subject. I found this under a compass search:

"Go to a cul-de-sac or parking lot and drive in a tight circle a couple of revolutions. Drive in opposite direction (circle left, circle right).

That should calibrate the compass.

Cheers, Doug "

So..I did this and it worked. The compass is now correctly displayed and the CAL is gone.

I have not had the chance to check out the GPS system yet.

On another issue it seems Hummers are being targeted for theft of OEM things. Someone tried to steal my spare tire cover which is very nice and was expensive. But, it also has a lock at the bottom and it prevented the theft but not the damage to the tire cover.

You would have found the same information had you 'done a search' of your owner's manual. I'd suggest you spend some time reading it cover to cover. You'll probably save yourself some time searching the forum and waiting for responses, and at the same time find out things about your H3 you never even thought of.

I agree with reading your owner's manual. I used it as reading material on the crapper for a few days!! Great information and I DID learn a few things about our Hummer.

Yes Halo. I did look through my manual first but did not find the information.

Now that you pointed this out I see on page 5-4 Compass Calibration.

In the index section it said Compass 5-3 (no calibration) and only a little information. So I admit I did not look further.

Still I found my answer here and it didn't take long. I didn't have to ask the "question" and wait for replies.

The guy who started this thread: https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...problem-20523/
And where I found my answer was not bombarded with READ THE MANUAL replies.

I count 2 . I was trying to point out that there is a wealth of information in your manual if you just take the time to go through it. If you're going to be that sensitive over some helpful info, then maybe this forum isn't for you.

Exclamation

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic......your original post said you had the problem solved. I was just sayin' the crapper is a great place to read your manual. No hard feelings I hope.

Thank you for an easy to search title of this thread. You may help others yet to visit.

You guys do seam to forget, many people come here and never even look at the manual (maybe they don't even know they have one??), so this is there first resource..... although I can appreciate the sarcasm.
