Climate Control Modules

Climate Control Modules
Is there any difference between the climate control modules between the Silverado, Tahoe, Cadillac and some others and the Hummer's? Why can we buy the other modules that look identical for 99-150 bucks and the Hummer module costs anywhere from 250-500 bucks! I find it hard to believe that GM or ANY manufacturer would make that many different modules its just not good sense.....can someone verify there is an actual difference?

I think he is talking about the control panel itself. Nothing about the actuators....
To be honest I'm not sure on the control panels. I can tell you this much. The drivers door master window switch from certain other vehicles that look the same will not fully function. For example if you have an 05-07 H2 that has the global windows buttons beside the heated seat buttons and you install any old master window switch, your global windows buttons will no longer work. Has to be one specific to the H2.
So that being said, you are not going to hurt anything trying one of the other air control panels but that is the only way you will find out for sure.... Ready to be the guinea pig and find out for us?
I did it with the windows switch.... My reason though was I wanted to have the global windows feature. So I first just found one of the heated seat switches with the two extra global windows buttons. Installed it and no go. Funny thing - I also have a Tech2 and the Tech2 even showed the global window buttons and responding to them but nothing would happen. Turns out there is software in the master windows switch module that makes it actually work. I even tried updating the software in the master windows switch (DDM - driver door module) that I had and it would not accept the software for a later version.

Correct the actual control panel module. I'm really having trouble believing that GM would make a separate firmware for a system that is already in several of their vehicles. Does anyone know about this? Are the modules for the H2 climate different than the Tahoe, Cadillac etc?

Ok - I looked back in my notes because I remembered after I posted above that several months back I was wondering about this very thing. I never did move forward on buying any of them though. That being said I am still wondering and below are my notes from when I did look into this before.... I did also note that there ARE some minor differences in some of them like the bottom right button being specifically for mirrors instead of the rear window.
So that being said..... want to be the gunea pig? Of course if you do not have or have access to a Tech2 (along with a TIS2000 install for updating) you will not be able to test the possibility of reprogramming or updating one of the lower cost ones. Below are the part numbers I had noted back then. Truly without someone actually trying one of the other part numbers there will be no way to know for sure.
