Default check engine light after mudding

Well I'm sure you saw my last post of when I flooded my Alpha, and I'm waiting for the carpet to come in. Well today, my check engine light came on when I was going to work. I did my Onstar diagnostic, and she said there was an emissions problem. Does anyone know what that could be. I'm obviously going to wait to get all the carpet and stuff in before I take it in. My question is that if the part that is busted will be covered under warranty? I don't know if it was from the mudding incident or not. The light came on 3 days later. Truck is running fine. Any ideas what it may be?

thanks,
Josh

P.s Can any of the Houston guys recommend a certain dealership that has a cool service dept? Someone who will understand that people actually do take their trucks off road?

Water/muddy gerdoin the exhaust system shorted/crudded up an O2 sensor. That's my guess? Can't think off hand of any other emission type sensor low enough to be impacted?

If that is the case, do you think it would be a warranty issue? Or since my actions caused it, I will have to pay?

I would think it should be covered. Just tell them you went off roading, had some wet mud action...etc, and then 3 days later, the light came on. I would not give them all the exact and gory details if you know what I mean. Hummer is built, sold, and marketed for its off road abilities. If you do a little wheeling and it causes a problem, they should fix it IMO.

Good luck and please let us know what the problem was/is and fill us in. Thanks.

I agree with DOC. Usually is the O2 sensor.

my O2 sensor crapped out because of mud/water build up and it was covered under warranty - they should honor it.

Muddy had this same thing happen to him after he went thru some deep mud puddles, he took his H2 to a dealer. He should be along sometime today if not pm him and he can tell you what they replaced.
