Be carefull out there people are crooks...
as if you don't already know, most people are genuinly good people and will do the right thing. Sometimes however, a few bad apples will remind you of how greedy and crooked people really can be. I just worked with a group who claims to be a christian based organization, who builds communities all over the country. I personally know the property owner who contracted with this group to build a community and he is out more the $700,000 so far... I am owed nearly $100,000 by this group so because of potential legal action, I will refrain from names. These guys claim to be a christian based organization, but through the entire process, I feel like I have been mislead. The property owner recently put up several hundred thousand dollars towards funding the project which was suppost to go towards payingmy companyand we have not recevied a dime, just run around. I am not the bank, if I were, we would have looked clsely atrisk vs. reward and worked under a completely different fee structure.I have already filed leins agaisnt the property to protect my interest, but in the process discovered that others are owned several hundreds of thousands of dollars, way ahead of me. I usually always work for the property owner, but in this case was willing to make an exception because the organization was christian based and appeared to be legit and veryhonest people. Lesson learned.....they are offcialy on my shiot list, so as soon as I can and there is no legal issues, I will post something about who they are for all to see. What a bunch of diks? Now I am pissed again, aarrrgggghhhhh.

As a Christian, I highly recommend that you should always be extra careful when dealing with these "Christian" foundations. A lot of them are bogus and try to feed of the good of the people. I could never get myself to send money or support a foundation who is appealing to large groups, the only support I give is directly to the Church or Missionaries.
There are a lot of people who will use the blanket of religion to do harm and foul others... it's really sad.

I hate to be a pessimist but when companies professing to be "Christian" or "faith" based try to do business with me the alarms always start going off. I have not been screwed by a company like that yet but have seen lots listed in the reports on contractors working without a license, having action taken against them by the licensing board, being sued, filing liens, etc. Don't want to generalize but seems like lots of these groups promote that to get you to drop your guard.

I knew better, but I let my guard down and now I am paying for it, or not getting paid for it, depending on how you look at it. It remains to be seen if I will be able to collect anything. Its time to let the dogs out, I mean turn the attorneys loose. I don't plan on getting it all, especially after legal fees, bummer......
I try not to be judgemental, but this sure doesn't help. From now on, I am going to scrutinize anyone, company or individual, i get into contract with.... Bad deals in this economy certainly don't help pay the bills....

No I did 80-90 percent of the work to secure all of the site permits for construction. Obviously I have stopped work and they will not be getting a permit with my help... Thats the last card I hold, so I have effectivly stalled the project until this is resolved. I know itsucks, but I had to vent my frustration today.
Unfortunaltely for me, when I have a signed contractor,I jump onto production drawings and deisgn work right of way and get into to permitting as quickly as possible. Iunderstand thing from the developers side so time is money and if I get my job done quickly and it saves a few months worth of interest carry costs for the developer, then he will remember that on the next project... Usually works out to my benefit, but this time I was more than 80% complete when we realized he was not going to get us paid.....

Fortunately, we do a great job (pat on back) and usually have no problems with getting clients. It will be ok, no fears with making payroll etc.., just sucks cause its like taking 100 grand and flushing it in the toilet....

Especially if they want to come in your house... because one of them ALWAYS has to use the bathroom... and that's another scam...
