Default CA Emissions

I am looking at purchasing a 2008 H2. I am traveling to CA next week and have found a couple that I am interested in and might want to drive back home. Are H2's subject to the stricter CA emission laws? I can't find any information that Hummer made special CA equipped trucks.

Thanks
James

On the newer vehicles I dont think it makes any difference. 70's to mid 90's there were some differences. At least you know it has not been exposed to salt and snow if it's a calif vehicle.

This is not true Cali cars and trucks live under sever smog laws and are equipped with certain smog components than other states. If you notice new car power ratings they usually have an asterisk by the horsepower number. Find the footnote with the asterisk and it gives lower horse power ratings for Cali cars. It's been this way since 1966. The only State in 1966 that you could by a Mustang with *smog* head and smog pump was in Cali. Sad but true. Do you own research. Acura has different power ratings for there Cali cars, I know, I have one.

every vehicle sold in CA after 97 has a different more restrictive catalytic converter thus the hp and tq loss, just but the ca car and the replace with a nice high flow cheap cat like a magnaflow catalytic converter to open up the flow and get more power while still being legal in every other state but Cali, hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I am heading to CA next week and was thinking about buying an H2 and driving back, but I am going to put that on hold for a week or two.
