My letter came today as well. Have not checked to see if mine has the issue yet.

Question

Does the letter state a specific model year or range of model years?

All years and model H3's but it only applies to vehicles that have been registered in select states. I got mine today but this was posted on another forum last week. It is corrosion caused by salt.

My letter said it only affected '08 model year. I called my dealership and asked if I had to wait until my brakes failed or if I could get it repaired before an accident. They told me it's NOT a recall, only a warranty extension in case the fittings corrode and leak. The dealer will only replace if a leak is evident.

I would think that if it is a GM thing the way to go would be to call GM service department directly. Any dealership will try to NOT perform free work, and that's exactly what a warranty extension/recall is... Sure they can get rembursed from GM but back when GM was really hurting alot of dealers were getting screwed by the corporate big wigs...

New to me '08 H3 owner and new to the forum.
I just took my H3 into the dealer and had them look at the brake lines after reading the other thread here. They said they'd change them out under warranty as my rig was first registered in a state that uses road salt.

Great forum BTW.

Another example of 'different dealer - different service'. I'm in Michigan.....one of the worse states for salt use, and they told me they have to be leaking before they'd upgrade.
WHERE'S PEGGY WHEN YOU NEED HER!!??
