Default Bought a Used 2008 H3 - Where's The XM?

I just got a new blue H3, love it, but...

The people at Carmax assured me that the H3 had XM, it's got an XM antenna, and they registered me for three months of XM radio. Problem is that it won't show up when I press Band, and a representative of XM told me that my radio wasn't receiving after I gave them the VIN number.

What could all of this mean?

A couple of things.
Is this unit you have the factory Delphi head unit ?
Was this truck bought thru a dealer ?
When I bought my 07 they told me I couldn't get XM unless I get the navigation option, which I did.
When you have XM you should also have a XM ID number. It is several letters and a number. This is important for XM to "see" the unit. The VIN won't help.
And you are correct, the XM screen display should show up when you cycle thru the band button, if in fact this unit is receiving satellite radio

My 06 and 08 had XM without the Navigation Option. It may have been manufactured as a rental which I don't think had XM or OnStar.

YOU mean my dealership may have lied to me ? [sic]
I wanted the navigation and XM when I placed my order in 07 and was told that you had to have the nav, first. The brochure I still have states that if you get the factory navigation you automatically get the XM radio and the three month free subscription
What are we supposed to believe ??

Come back Peggy, Tricia, are you out there ??

My '07 had OnStar and XM with no Nav... I liked it better than the '09 with Nav.

I'm thinkin' XM/Serious... oops, I mean Sirius... is struggling with getting it right. I would cancel if I hadn't subscribed for life... which, by the way, XM/Serious defines as My Death or 10 years... whichever comes first... chumps.

OP, you don't need to give PEGGY (tricia) any information at all!!! She can't do KRAP about anything from Carmax.

What year is your H3? Is it still under the 4/50K bumper to Bumper warranty? If so visit your local dealer and find out if yoru H3 has XM or not. If not, go get that Carmax salesperson and tear them a new ahole and demand an OEM XM radio and receiver/antenne.
