Default Bedliner in 2009 H3T

I did a major cleaning of my H3T this past weekend and while cleaning my bedliner, I noticed crackling noises under the bedliner...which of course turned out to be dirt and rocks from the times I had haul those types of objects. Before I start loosening bolts and taking the bedliner up, has anyone actually done this in order to clean underneath? I am also thinking that the bedliner, after almost 6 years in the sun has seen its better days...and could use some new paint. Has anyone actually repainted their bedliner or used something other than maybe some cleaning to shine it up a bit. Can you add a line x bedliner over the plastics or would they have to come out. Any info would be appreciated.

And yes, I'm currently trying to rejuvenate the outside of my ride as its finally paid off and I now have the cash to put some accessories and update/fix/clean-up some stuff that I haven't in the past.

I just ordered some side steps from N-Fab and am looking into new wheels next.

A bed liner is a bed liner. Take out the bottom and clean away.

Looks like this underneath.
