Unhappy Back Wheel Messed Up

Hey all...

A few days ago, I was pulling into my apartment at literally about 3mph or so and cut around a cement curb too sharply. Since the cement curb doesn't move, normally rubbing rear tire winds up pushing the backside of the H3 a few inches in order to keep moving around a cement curb. But this time, I cut it a bit more and the H3 back end was pushed about a foot by the back tire hitting the curb at 3mph.

Something happened to the back tire or that area. Now when I turn, the back tire(s) seems to freeze up and resist strongly.

Drove it around a bit and have heard 2 random LOUD METAL BANGS as if something metal is falling in or out of place. Once turning left and again in reverse.

Took it to a Chevrolet Service Center. They drove it with me and definitely felt the symptoms. But they looked at it for a few days and could not figure out what it could be. Then they put it in reverse and heard a BANG and told me it's not acting up right now and are ready to return it to me..!

Hoping someone can give me some theories as to what it could possibly be so I can help coach the mechanics before I pick it up still broken.

Ty!

Dave

guess,,exercize all modes lock,hi,lo on grass or dirt, forward and reverse.
did your t case get forced into lock?
stop on a hill with wheels turned hard left or right. you should drift freely. if not you are in lock mode, i dont know why?

loud noise, t case chain jumping ?

Welcome to HF.

When asking a question, if you want an accurate answer as apposed to wild guesses, you should always include year, model, and miles.

Example: I have a 2007 H3 Base model with 117K miles on it.....

no wild guesses here just honesty in stating its a guess trying to help till something better comes along. nothing new heard yet.
its a strange problem and unlikely to happen to a particular vehicel, could be, just a guess!

still trying, and this is a wild guess in lieu of any other. a locker diff? bumped into lock. pins engaged? unlikely but nothing else "guessed"!

Huge guess here, you may have dislodged the c clip on that axle shaft with the side hit to the rim.
Take the cover off and inspect the inside of the different for the c clip in your different oil.
