Default Automatic headlights

It seems like everytime I start up and drive off, my headlights are on . . . not the DRL's but the headlights. Of course, it's hard to check since they don't come on until the vehicle is put in gear (where you can't get out and look). So I don't notice until I see a reflection in the bumper of the car ahead of me. This happens in broad daylight.

I think my dash mounted sensor may be the culprit. Anybody else run into this?

This is caused by the daytime head-lights feature which reduces your insurance.
My Mercury Sable does the same thing.
So does my Jeep Renegade.

Aren't the DRL's the smaller white lights down in the bumper? You can see them in may avatar on the left. That's what Iunderstood was supposed to be on in the daytime. That's the way it was on my H2. Now, my headlights are on all the time -- that doesn't seem right.

I believe in 2007 they switched to the head lights as day time running lights on the H3. Not the running lights like on the H2!

are you seeing a reflection of your whole front end, or just the lights shining off a bumper in front of you? was it raining? here in CA it's now the law that your headlights come on with the windshield wipers on all new cars. unless it's draining power from your 6kw audio setup, it shouldn't really be a problem.

Headlights are your DRL's but on a lower wattage lamp.

yes the headlights are the drl but dimmer, try this, drive car into garage or dark place you'll notice the lights brighten up as soon as you enter the shade. The other lights your refering to are the aux lights activated by the button under the main light switch

Well I'll be danged.

My Pappy used to tell me, "Ifone person tells you you're sick, you may ignore them. If three people tell you you're sick, you better lay down."

So, three of you have insured me that the main headlights are the DRL's. I guess should go with that. Does that mean the smaller white lights are fog lights only?
