Did not know they carry this size....with all the talk about 285's and 315's never heard about this size. Has me thinking this could be the ideal size and probably not mess with the speedo too much. Tirerack does not list how tall they are. Anyone run these??

 

They are a tad bit shorter than 285/75's but a little wider. All depends on if you want taller or wider I guess and what wheels you will be mounting them on. I'm looking into the Kumho Road Venture 285/75/16 or 315/75/16. They have a very aggressive tread for an A/T.

 

Interesting! How about 305/45/22? Does Duratracs carry this size as well???

I got this size currently from a Japanese Tire, but I wanted to buy that Duratracs tire as long as they have the size.

 

Not as many people run this size; they either go w/ the 285 33's or the 315 35's. But Doc runs the 305's and swears by them. Big enough to do damage offroad, but small enough to retain mileage (as opposed to 35's).

 

TS, it makes sense at least. You have just about the same foot print as a 35", but have the height to not mess up your speedo like a 33". Since most 315/75 tires are actually about 34.6", you only gain about 3/4" in ground clearance. The 315s do fill up the wheel well, and look much nicer. But I guess it's up for you to decide. 3/4" of ground clearance and better looks, or save having to deal with gearing and computer problems.

Also, I haven't seen anyone mention this: do 35's void the warranty?

 

Not sure but I think Bunger runs 305 duratracs...

35s in a direct manner will NOT void your warranty, the warranty claims rep will decide if they had an effect on the damage that you vehicle sustained... i.e. they will not be a reason that the radio went bad... thats extreme but shows, the worse case scenario... however if your offroading and break a tie rod or your steering rack goes, they may or may not cover that...

I had to have my entire front end rebuilt when I went out wheelin solo, I had 35s on and the mention of voiding my warranty was never mentioned...

I've got the 285/75/16 Duratracs, and they are great! I looked at the 305's, but the extra $40-50 per tire was not worth it. And they weigh more too, without giving you much more tread witdth. For me the 285 is perfect all around.

 

As already mentioned, not directly. But if you snap an axle because of their bulk/weight, they can void it. But a LOT of HUMMER dealerships are cool and will not b*tch about the 35's and just fix the truck.

 

as long as you can fit the tire on a stock size rim and there is no body or lift kit to make it look like the tires were fitted to account for the lift, you will be fine. My dad is an insurance agent and he deals with this stuff constantly because dealerships call asking for the insurance company to pick up the tab instead of being covered by warranty. He said that if the tire fits on a stock size rim and there is no lift, there is no reason for them to not to give you the warranty.
