Anyone install FRONT 2" reciever hitch?
I am looking for advice and thoughts on installing a 2" reciever hitch to the FRONT of a 2006 H3.
The main purpose would be for my surf rod/cooler carrier , but also may be for a removable winch in the future. If I put the surf rod carrier on the back we can't open the tailgate and with not being able to put the rear window down it gets a little self-defeating on the convienence of it.
Any procut/brand choices that work the best and are easiest to install? Any real headaches a DIY with just the regular joe set of tools one can expect? What do you have to cut thru for the hitch?
Anyone put one on? Thanks in advance.

I had considered this for a winch but abandoned the idea. Cequent makes a front receiver, but you have to take off the skid. Not a problem in you don't offroad, but it looks a little goofy. For a nice looking, and functional front receiver you'll need to fab something up yourself, I'm afraid.

Instead of one of the existing off-the-shelf pieces, I'd rather fabricate a front receiver that mounts higher and through the center of the front bumper where the license plate is mounted. Then i would fabricate a license plate mount that plugs into the front receiver when it's not in use.
