Default Anyone heard about any ECM Locks on 09 GM Trucks???

I spoke with tech support @ Volant, he had mentioned that the new 09 GM Trucks have a ECM Lock, not allowing re-calibrations, unless done by dealer.. More/Less not allowing the owners to modify or add any power-adders to the trucks.. Hence my Volant intake making the truck run like crap.. Need some help, I spoke with Adv4x4, they offer a computer upgrade, which would allow users to go around this lock and add intakes and such..

I tuned my LH8 without issue using EFILIVE. The ECM and TCM. Not sure if there is a controller difference between the 5 and the 8.

I used the new Superchips Cortex programmer and what a difference. I loaded the performance tune. You have to run at least 91 octane. It's advertised as an increase of around 35 hp and 35 tq increase and also tunes the trans....it works well on my H3T Alpha

the part # is 2950 ... it only lists for a 2008 but of course the H3T is an 09...the cortex is only for the Alpha also....it works awesome and also has some nice optional features...changing tire, gear size and taking off limiters.......cheapest place i found it was autoanything.com......even cheaper than ebay

No ecm locks on the 09 or any new GM product, use any programer you like it will work just fine for you.

They are full of crap.

You can easily tune 09s. Here's a dyno sheet from on of our customers with an 09 Colorado with the LH8. Custom HP tune, AirDoc Intake, muffler swap and an E fan. Lots more than 35Hp boost... actually almost 60. That's 339 TQ and 300.9HP at the rear wheels.

Doc Olds, I was simply stating what the superchips box puts out.....i also have multiple other things done to my Alpha but i have not dynoed it......35hp is pretty impressive for a gas motor and a boxed tune.......it also has alot of other good features that a custom tune would not offer such as correcting speedo for tire size, gear changes, DTC troubleshooting and erasing and the biggest reason is, what happens when you go to tow with your truck and you have an all out performance tune installed?.....with the programmer you just simply load the "tow" tune.....just a thought
