Anyone have a REAL hood vent installed?
I have custom headers, K&N air intake, dual exhaust, performance chip, and now I'd like to get some more air flow through the hood itself. I had one of those plastic "chrome-for-show" pieces of crap, but since they recalled the plastic hood piece, it was a bitch to put on since they glued the piece down, and its impossible to attach the fake one on there.
Has anyone had a real vent put in?

a real vent put in
like, let air and water and other debris in thru a hole in the hood?
water has been known to leak into the spark plug well and screw up the works.
air usually comes in thru the fender so u dont get hot engine air that some say is not good food for the motor.
what r u looking for.
there r experts here on everything,,,not me

I understand where you're coming from but the issue that a lot of people seem to be having is they actually need a functional hood vent installed after doing an engine swap.

I have seen a couple of pictures of some hoods that had a functional vent/louvers installed. The problems (aside from letting dirt and water in and on top of the engine) is that right where you want to put the hole, the hood has some bracing that you will have to cut out or leave in place and have that bracing in the way. Alternately, you could cut 3 holes in the hood around the braced areas but you still have to find a new louver. I saw ONE functional louver, but it looked large, heavy and Terminator/H1 tough and I saw some pics of the stock louver with holes cut into it for airflow.
I looked at adding a new radiator with a separate tranny cooler under the hood "louver" but never really liked how it would have to be executed and would end up looking. Maybe you can think up a better idea like, oh I don't know, maybe a ram air scoop turned around backwards?
