Default Another Ticking Story

Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum. I turned to these forums when my H3 started making a ticking sound that seems to be coming from the engine. The engine is speeds and slows with the acceleration with the engine. I have seen the other threads and can relate to most of them but I decided to post this thread because I had a couple of questions. First and foremost has anyone had this ticking issue successfully taken the problem to a dealer and had it resolved? Second has anyone experienced any misfiring while the ticking was occurring?

I have the 5.3L and have taken the ticking noise in under a warranty repair in the past. The dealer told me something about a evap hose and possibly a bad batch of gasoline. Recently the ticking started again and has been coming and going. Last night my engine light started flashing and the engine became rough and started misfiring. Once I stopped the problem corrected and hasn't done it since. I am taking it to another dealer Monday. Unfortunately any repair will be outside warranty. My H3 has low miles it is an 08 with 59k and some change. These engines shouldn't have this problem!

I guess my last question is at what point does this issue that is clearly troubling hummer owners became a GM recall? Sorry for the book and hopefully someone can answer my question.

Are you sure you're out of warranty (5 years 100,000 mile powertrain)? When did you purchase?

Took it up to the dealer today told them the problem but it wasn't making the ticking noise. They said cylinder 7 had the miss fire and told me there was a bulletin out on the misfire saying it was a common problem and to flush the injectors. After they did that they said it should fix my problem bout halfway home the ticking started again on the highway. I took it back this time the engine tech got to listen to it. I had paper work from the same problem saying it was a loose EVAP hose but this dealer seemed to think it was a valve. They are currently breaking down the engine. I will post the results when I know in case anyone else is having the same issue.

I cannot imagine any way a dirty fuel injector could cause "ticking", and I can assure you there is no TSBs regarding ticking related to the 2008 LH8.

There are a bunch of things that can make noise, dirty fuel injectors aren't on my list.

Has anybody looked for an exhaust leak?

They flushed the injectors because of the misfire in cylinder 7. They didn't hear the ticking until I took it back up there. It's just odd I would think a valve would be making the sound all the time.nthis ticking comes and goes...as for the exhaust leak I hope they check everything but I haven't even heard back from them lol makes me nervous.

Turns out I have a collapsed valve I found a tsb online for my exact problem that has pretty much all gm/Chevy models that also have the 3.7 but hummer isn't on there. As for the warranty being out I am only paying 10% of the repair cost.
